2022 Heart Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Teams Announced

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its 2022 Heart Women's Volleyball All-Conference teams and major award winners on Wednesday morning.

The award winners were voted on by all 14 Heart head coaches.

No. 13 nationally ranked Park University junior outside hitter Malaina Hensley has been selected the 2022 Heart Women's Volleyball Player of the Year. The Kansas City, Mo., native helped the Pirates capture the Heart Regular Season Co-Championship with their 18-1 conference mark.

Hensley supplied the Pirates with 327 kills this season, which is fifth best in the Heart, she averaged 3.08 kills per set and had 39 service aces. The Pirates have advanced to the NAIA Opening Round and will host Cumberland University this Saturday at 1 pm.

Fellow teammate Jullia Alvarez earned the 2022 Heart Setter of the Year honors. In her first season with the Pirates, Alvarez provided the Park offense with 1,055 assists and averaged 10.99 assists per set, which is tops in the Heart. Alvarez was selected Heart Setter of the Week three times this season.

Callie Henson of No. 19 ranked Central Methodist Eagles has been selected the 2022 Heart Attacker of the Year.

The junior had 346 kills and averaged 3.46 kills per set for CMU. She also has posted a .309 hitting percentage so far on the season. Henson was selected Heart Attacker of the Week twice this season. The Eagles will host St. Xavier (Ill.) in the NAIA Opening Round on Saturday.

Vivianna Sanchez and Chevy Wagner-Chun were selected the 2022 Heart Co-Defenders of the Year.

Sanchez, a freshman from Chula Vista, Calif., was also selected the 2022 Heart Freshman of the Year.

She was terrific at the net for the Valor, as she finished her freshman season with 115 total blocks, with 13 solo blocks. Her 1.35 blocks per set were tops in the Heart. Sanchez also had 136 kills for Evangel and averaged 1.60 kills per set.

Wagner-Chun provided the Vikings with 659 digs this season, averaging 5.45 digs per set, which was No. 1 in the Heart. She also dished out 104 assists and had 38 service aces.

No. 10 nationally ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University head coach Molly Karagyaurov is the 2022 Heart Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year.

The fourth-year head coach, led the Pioneers to an impressive 25-1 regular season record and 18-1 conference mark, earning the 2022 Heart Regular Season Co-Championship.

She then led her alma mater to a 2022 Heart Conference Tournament Championship with a thrilling five-set win over Park on November 12.

MNU Assistant Coach, Adam Brewster was selected the 2022 Heart Assistant Coach of the Year. Coach Brewster and the Pioneers will host Blue Mountain Christian this Saturday, November 19 in the NAIA Opening Round.
