Hensley, Allen, Young Selected Molten Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Molten Women's Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday.

Malaina Hensley of No. 8 nationally ranked Park University earned the Conference Attacker of the Week award, while Amber Allen of Benedictine College collected her third Setter of the Week award of 2023 and Alyssa Young is this week's Defender of the Week.

Hensley and the Pirates improved to 13-2 overall and a perfect 7-0 in Heart play with wins over No. 22 ranked Central Methodist and Baker.

In those two matches, the senior had 25 total kills and averaged 3.57 kills per set. In the win against Baker she had 13 kills with just one attack error and posted a hitting percentage of .480.

Allen and the Ravens with 3-0 last week with wins over Baker, Grand View and William Penn. The highlight of the week for Allen was her 54 assist performance against William Penn in a 3-1 victory. The freshman averaged 13.50 assists per set in that match. She has now won back-to-back Setter of the Week awards.

Young and the Statesmen went 2-1 last week and the senior had six or more blocks in all three matches. The Winter Springs, Florida native averaged 1.67 blocks per set and 1.58 kills per set on the week.
