Central Methodist University Women’s Cross Country Selected for Musco Team Sportsmanship Award

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced the Musco Team Sportsmanship Award for the sport of Women's Cross Country on Thursday.

Central Methodist University was selected for the award, as nominated by fellow Athletics Administrators, Game Officials, Coaches, Student-Athletes and Fans across the conference.

The Eagles earned the award for their display of the NAIA's Five Core Character Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership.

"This marks the third year of the Musco Team Sportsmanship award and to continue to honor teams that compete the right way and are servant leaders in the community, shows how important these qualities are to the conference," said Heart Commissioner, Lori Thomas. "Coach Anderson continues to lead his team with those five core character values in mind and the Eagles are deserving of this award."

Here is what the nominators had to say about the Eagles:

"Coach Kenny and company are a group that cheers on other runners who are struggling and are extremely personable throughout the season and during the postseason at championships."

For the fall season, the Heart will be awarding its Musco Team Sportsmanship award to one team from each sport of football, women's soccer, men's soccer, women's volleyball, women's cross country and men's cross country.
